Middlesbrough test route 1

• Follow the examiner's directions. They are spoken and shown at the top of the screen.
• Mirrors, signal, speed, look before every junction, using the car itself: clicktap the mirror to check it, the indicator stalk left of the wheel (up for right, down for left) to signal, and the side windows to look left or right. Keys work too: M mirrors, ← → signal, Z C look, ↑ ↓ speed.Speed with the Go and Brake pedals.
• Give way to traffic on roundabouts, on main roads and coming the other way when you turn right. Wait at the line for a safe gap.
• The car steers itself. Signals cancel themselves after the turn. Don't signal for bends.

Stage 1 · Hazard perception

Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough

Drive 1.8 km south from the town centre on real roads. The car steers itself. You control the speed.

• Accelerate and brake with the arrow keys, W/S or Spacethe Go and Brake pedals.
• Brake as soon as you see a hazard developing. Quicker reactions score more, up to 5 points each.
• Keep to the speed limit and don't brake for no reason.
• A collision or going well over the limit fails the drive.
